This is a blog about a visit to a papermaking artisan's workplace
where they made a prototype of handmade washi paper for interior products. After the COVID-19 pandemic, I visited a papermaking artisan's workplace for the first time in about six years. This time, they layered two or more layers of washi paper and made a prototype using a papermaking method called Sukikomi, which is different from regular washi paper.

This is an example of a small, lidded box made with Chiyogami and Mingei paper. Each box is palm-sized and carefully handcrafted.
